I like to play what's called carom billiards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carom_billiards), which means i want a table with no holes, something that i cant find in america.....is there some way (maybe some billiard table accesory or diy style) to block up the holes and make the corners smooth like in the picture on the wikipedia article?

how can I know the size of the Billiard table (Pool and Snooker) without using any measuring tool? additional question...there is 7 feet table, 8 feet and 9 feet...Is that the measurement of the entire size of the table or just the playing surface of the table? I watch Pool games in youtube and it seems like Professionally used table are much bigger than other tables.

I'm interested in buying a billiard table and want to know what I would notice to be different about 3/4 inch slate versus one inch slate? The one inch slate is a lot more expensive and I'd like to know what I'd be losing or giving up by buying 3/4 inch.

I'm modeling the movement of a billiard ball on a billiards table. The ball is made of bakelite and is 156-170 grams, and has a diameter 5.715 centimeters, and is moving on a worsted surface. I've got the drag figured out now, and what remains is the rolling resistance. However, to calculate the rolling resistance, I need the rolling resistance coefficient, and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Can anyone help me with this?

Why is a billiard table called a pool table when it doesnt have a pool? I dont get it

This billiard table was handed down to me and i just cant keep it anymore so i am trying to sell it. Since I've made the decision to do this i have been trying to find info about the brand and how much it was worth new and how much its worth now. It looks like a late 60's early 70's model table. Any and all information would be helpful.

Does any reader remember the following story? About 30 years ago a shop in Melbourne, Australia which sold billiard tables got in trouble for opening illegally at weekends. They got around the law by becoming a bookshop instead. Their books were expensive - $1,100 each - but with each book purchased you got a free billiard table. That's all I can remember now! I would love to get further information about this story, or a link to anything about it on the Internet, if there is one. Thanks.
